Participant Information Sheet for Online Survey
I would like to invite you to take part in this survey examining the users’ experiences and interactions with museums on social media sites.
My name is Sophia Bakogianni and I am a PhD student, under the supervision of Dr. Jahna Otterbacher, Assistant Professor at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC). All completed surveys will be very valuable for my study. At this point, I would like to clarify that I have no affiliation with the MoMA Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
Please take time to read the following information carefully before you decide whether or not you wish to take part.
Purpose of the study
This study aims to understand what users expect from museums on social media.
Why have I been chosen?
There are no specific criteria of choice, and your participation will not be considered in any way as inappropriate for this study. You are seeing this, because you voluntarily offered to participate in the study.
Do I have to take part?
Taking part is entirely voluntary and refusal or withdrawal will involve no penalty or loss, now or in the future.
What do I have to do?
You will be asked to fill in a questionnaire with some demographic data and some questions concerning your interaction with the official MoMA’s accounts on social media. It will take no more than 7-9 minutes to complete.
Will my taking part in this survey be kept confidential?
This is an anonymous questionnaire. All personal information collected about you will be kept strictly confidential, and their use will abide to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and research ethical requirements.
What will happen to the results of the research study?
I will use the information you shared with me for research purposes only. These will include my PhD thesis and other publications, e.g. journal articles, etc., and/or presentations at conferences, seminars, etc. I explicitly state that the information you provide will not be used for any commercial or promotional purpose.
The shared information will be used in the form of anonymized, aggregated responses, without any means of identifying individuals involved.
How will my data be stored?
Your data will be stored in encrypted files and on password-protected computers. I will store hard copies of any data securely and keep them for a minimum of five years, in accordance with University guidelines. The only other person who will have access to the data is my supervisor.
If you have any questions concerning our data protection practices or wish to obtain more details in relation to the personal data we process in regards to you or want to submit a complaint, please contact in writing one of the following:
